| NYK Logistics Provides
Stable Support for Raw Materials Transportation from
Gate Ports to Factory Sites |

One of the world's biggest
consumer goods manufacturers, with sites in Guangzhou,
Huangpu and Shanghai, has been importing growing volumes
of raw materials. It became necessary for this manufacturer
to look for stable import delivery arrangements and
accessory services for which high-quality transportation
equipment, communication capability, advanced information
systems and financial stability were also provided.
Our challenge was to initiate and implement new transportation
methods that enabled the manufacturer to further reduce
related costs while increasing its level of customer
service. |

In order to meet the high-level requirements
such as smooth customs clearance, accurate cargo pickup
at CY and the airport, and accurate data input and transfer,
NYK Logistics formed a unified task force drawn from
its offices in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
Under this unified task force, effective operation teams
were formed in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai respectively
to handle their physical operations. NYK Logistics'
network of branch offices in China has since functioned
effectively, and the customer's business has been expanding
favorably. |

NYK Logistics' accurate delivery enabled
the customer to minimize inventory and save costs. Such
key savings were also achieved in transportation, by
shortening cargo stays at the gate port. |
